Last Updated: November 14, 2025

This Privacy Policy explains how NextMove ("NextMove," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information about you when you use our website, applications, and related services (collectively, the "Services").

By using the Services, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.

1. Who We Are

NextMove provides AI-powered job alerts, career tracking tools, and subscription-based services for tech professionals.

If you have questions about this Privacy Policy, you can contact us at:

  • Email: ivan@nextmove.jobs
  • Mailing Address: We currently operate as a remote-first company and do not maintain a public mailing address. You can contact us at the email address above, and we will provide a mailing address upon request where required.

2. Scope of This Policy

This Privacy Policy applies to:

  • Visitors to our public website (including landing pages, waitlist pages, and status pages);
  • Registered users who create accounts and use our dashboard, alerts, and subscription features;
  • Users who receive emails (e.g., alerts, newsletters, transactional messages).

It does not apply to third-party websites or services that are not controlled by us, even if they are linked from our Services.

3. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information:

3.1 Information You Provide Directly

Account and Profile Information

  • Name
  • Email address
  • Password (stored in hashed form, not in plain text)
  • Role (e.g., user, admin)
  • Preferences, such as tech sectors/industries, companies, roles, seniority levels, locations, and daily newsletter/alert settings

Registration and Waitlist

We collect email addresses and any optional information you submit when joining the waitlist/private beta, registering an account, or signing up for alerts or newsletters.

Support and Communications

We collect information you provide in communications with us, such as support requests, feedback, or survey responses.

Payment and Subscription Information

We use Stripe as our payment processor. Through our integration, we may receive and store Stripe customer IDs, Stripe subscription IDs, your subscription plan and interval (e.g., "chill," "eagleeye," monthly, yearly), subscription status (e.g., active, canceled, past due), cancellation settings, period end dates, and invoice data associated with your email (including Stripe invoice IDs, amounts, currency, invoice status, invoice numbers, and hosted invoice URLs).

We do not store your full payment card number on our servers. Payment information is handled by Stripe under its own privacy and security practices.

Email and Security Tokens

To support authentication, security, and account management, we may generate and store email verification tokens, password reset tokens, email change tokens, associated expiration timestamps, and pending email addresses for email change flows.

3.2 Information We Collect Automatically

When you use the Services, we may automatically collect log and usage data (such as IP address, browser type, device information, date/time stamps, referring/exit pages, and pages viewed) and analytics data.

We use Vercel Analytics and similar tools to understand how the Services are used. These tools may collect anonymized or pseudonymized usage data, such as page views, device information, and aggregate engagement metrics. We do not currently use this data to build behavioral profiles for advertising.

3.3 Information from Third Parties

We may receive payment-related data from Stripe (such as customer and subscription metadata and invoice status) and job posting or industry data from external sources that power your alerts. These external datasets typically do not identify you personally.

4. How We Use Your Information

We use your information for the following purposes:

  1. To provide and operate the Services – including account creation, authentication, personalized alerts, dashboard features, and account management flows.
  2. To manage subscriptions and billing – including creating and maintaining Stripe customer and subscription records, managing plan changes and cancellations, and generating invoice information and billing history.
  3. To communicate with you – including sending transactional emails (verification emails, password reset links, billing notices), daily or periodic job alerts and newsletters (if enabled), and service-related announcements.
  4. To improve and secure the Services – including monitoring performance and service status, debugging, detecting and preventing fraud, abuse, and security incidents, and improving the user experience.
  5. To comply with legal obligations – including maintaining records required by tax, accounting, and other applicable laws and responding to lawful requests.

Where applicable, we process your information based on one or more legal bases: your consent, performance of a contract with you, compliance with legal obligations, and our legitimate interests (e.g., providing and improving the Services and ensuring security).

5. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information.

We may share your information in the following situations:

  • Service providers and processors – including Stripe, hosting and infrastructure providers, email delivery services, and analytics providers, who process data on our behalf under contractual confidentiality obligations.
  • Within our organization – with authorized team members who need access to perform their job functions.
  • Legal, safety, and compliance – to comply with laws, regulations, legal processes, or governmental requests; to protect the rights, property, or safety of NextMove, our users, or the public; or to detect, prevent, or address fraud, security, or technical issues.
  • Business transfers – in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of all or a portion of our business, subject to confidentiality obligations and applicable law.
  • With your consent – when you direct us to share information or otherwise consent.

6. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

Our Services may use cookies and similar technologies to maintain session and authentication state, remember your preferences, and collect analytics data about site usage. Depending on your jurisdiction, we may provide cookie banners or settings to manage non-essential cookies. You can also control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling certain cookies may affect the functionality of the Services.

7. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as necessary to provide the Services, maintain your account and subscription, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When no longer needed, we may anonymize or securely delete your information. Some metadata (such as logs and invoice records) may be retained longer where required by law or for legitimate business purposes such as auditing, security, and compliance.

8. Security

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including password hashing, role-based access controls, session-based authentication, HTTPS encryption in transit, and separation between our systems and Stripe's payment infrastructure. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have rights regarding your personal information, including rights of access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, objection, and withdrawal of consent.

You can often update your account details and preferences directly in the dashboard (for example, your preferences and newsletter settings). To exercise other rights, contact us at ivan@nextmove.jobs. We may need to verify your identity before responding. If you are in the EEA, UK, or a similar jurisdiction, you may also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

10. Children's Privacy

Our Services are not directed to children under the age of 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If we learn that we have collected such information, we will take steps to delete it. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.

11. International Transfers

Our Services may be operated from the United States and other locations. Your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in a country that may not provide the same level of data protection as your home jurisdiction. Where required by law, we implement appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) to protect personal data transferred from the EEA, UK, or other regions.

12. Third-Party Links and Services

The Services may contain links to third-party websites and services (for example, job listings and social media platforms). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties. We encourage you to review their privacy policies before providing any information.

13. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last Updated" date at the top indicates when it was last revised. If we make material changes, we will provide notice as required by law (for example, by posting a notice on our website or sending an email). Your continued use of the Services after any changes are effective means you accept the updated Privacy Policy.
